America News: Three Indian-American Democrats were on Monday sworn in as Fort Bend County judges in the United States. At a function, Julie A. Mathew, K.P. George, and Surendran K. Patel was sworn in as Fort Bend County judges, along with other newly elected and re-elected officials.
Four years ago, the first Indian-American woman to be elected to a judge’s bench in the US, Julie A. Matthews was re-elected for a second term by defeating her Republican challenger, Andrew Dornberg. Mathew is a native of Thiruvalla, Kerala. He won by 123,116 votes defeating his rival Republican Andrew Dornberg.
She was elected Administrative Judge for the County Courts by her peers and was also the head of the first Juvenile Intervention and Mental Health Court. After winning the election, he said in a Facebook post that I am grateful to each of my supporters, well-wishers and voters.
KP George won the election
With this, Indian-origin American Democrat KP George has won another term as Fort Bend County Judge. He is a resident of Kakkodu city of Kerala. This is also the second term of KP George. On being re-elected as Fort Bend County Judge, George said, “I am honored.” We will achieve even more in the next four years because we will do it together.
Surendran K. Patel was also welcomed
The county asked District Court Judge Surendran K. Patel, who in November defeated Republican Edward M. Krenck in the race for the 240th Judicial District. The 52-year-old, a native of Kerala, has been a Texas lawyer since 2009 with over 25 years of experience, prior to which he was a lawyer in India, where he earned a law degree from Calicut University in 1995.
